The 2023 growing season has begun. We are at 83% emergence, and I have been busy being a proud plant parent. Other than keeping the environment favorable this entails some one-on-one care. This includes rescuing hemp babies with a poor sense of direction. These little anarchists, despite proper orientation, decided to defy nature and grow roots up. One of our strains is having difficulty shedding the outer seed hull, so I am carefully removing them if I can.
A proud parent also takes lots of photos to document important milestones. We have a set of twins in one of our strains! In another strain we have some whorled phyllotaxy! This is when the cannabis plant has 3 sets of leaves (or more) around a node instead of the standard set of alternating 2. This is sometimes referred to as a triploid, though the use of this term isn't completely accurate. It is always a joy seeing these types of rarities in the plant!
